time to celebrate

this past weekend we had some friends over for dinner....and dave busted out the champagne glasses and swirled up a little festive cocktail!
we toasted to being alive, and the ability to living life
we toasted to finalizing his car accident that occurred 18 months ago
we toasted to no more battling with insurance companies

and we toasted to great friends to celebrate with
(we are going to miss these friends, as school will be taking them across the country)
we are so very thankful they have been apart of our "peninsula assimilation" as we moved to these parts of the bay.
its nice to have friends to call and say, "we are making garlic basil pasta, with mango chicken sausage, with a huge green salad, have you had dinner yet?"
and within the hour, they are on your door step ready to celebrate life together.
sweetness.

dave created pomegranate cocktails, with pomegranate seeds that danced in the champagne bubbles, such a fancy little treat!

marvin gardens

this week for date night we stayed in, ordered thai food and played a mean game of monopoly.
we received these really amazing board games that are packaged as if they are large old wooden books; during this rainy weathered weekend; we decided to take the shrink wrap off of our monopoly game (the gift receipt from 2008 still attached!) and challenge each other with a little roll of the dice, a buying properties, fighting over park place, being sent to jail, and wondering how neither of us landed on pacific avenue.

lets just say, i had one amazing game.
at one point i had to give the bank change, as it was running low of $100's.
and then poor dave, he lost.
but i won!

and it was fun. and i hope he doesn't hold it against me, but every time he landed on marvin gardens it cost him $850; three turns in a row!

crafing my way to being a better aunt

this year i am striving to send more mail.

i know that usps isn't loving life with the lack of mail being sent so there are jobs being cut from within the post offic/mail system...but i will strive to keep them in business; and i will also strive to make someone's day by sending a true piece of mail, stamp and envelope:)

case in point, or rather my recent subjects...my little nephews and niece.
i remember growing up and LOVING it when my aunts, uncles, grandparents, extended family members sent me mail....it truly made my day....and so i will strive to do the same.

i am going to be a great aunt this year, and send mail on all their birthdays....so last night i sat down and created, as to put myself in a position to be successful at my new commitment for the year.
creating and being crafty is super fun...so watch out, more mail to be sent...my postmaster is going to love me:)

ps...its sunny outside:)
which means the rain has stopped
& the days are getting longer!
joyous!!

celebrating 5

this past march 11, marks the 5th year anniversary of our first date.
and so we celebrated.
off to berkeley to grab dinner and a show.
dinner started off with a little "hummus two ways"...one plain and the other black bean, with assorted fresh veggies and pita to enjoy it with.

followed by a little blue cheese, herb crusted, fresh mushroom and garlic pizza

after the show (ruined) we hit up a local place for a glass of wine, and then made our way back home.

its been 5 years since that first date in SF, and im excited for how things turned out since that day...i told the husband since we started dating and then a few years later stepping into marriage; i wish i knew then how to let the little things slide, and remember not to make them such a big deal....but i also need to know how to live with that little nugget of information now.
(its too easy to make a big deal of the little things...so i will strive to be more chill) :)
here is to another 5 years of dating, excited for where life takes us and looking forward to the continual process of living life together.

its-it

after a long week, lots of working, lots of running, good times all around...
i enjoyed an it's-it.
dangerous it is that the corner store sells them from the front little case for only $1.50 a pop. and sometimes i just want a thin mint ice cream sandwich made with oatmeal cinnamon cookies, coated in milk chocolate....
so delish. so delish.
