bay to breakers. 2012

today was B2B 2012.
sarah slept on our comfy white couch,  alarms were set for 530am, and we were on the 616am bart train!
7am start...lincecum lead the race with the kenyans!


it was an incredibly beautiful warm morning in the city

we hopped into the race 2 blocks from the start, so that we weren't caught in with the crazies; which was so nice; and also lead me to believe this year's B2B was much calmer than years past.
(note the two policemen on the bridge...keeping the chaos under control)


the hill was a beast, as always; this was the view from the top

the park was nice and cool, and the finish was just around the corner


we could have put our names into the drawing for this beauty; but opted not to:)

after the finish, this is the walk back to all forms of transportation

picnic on may 11

friday, may 11 marked one month until my 30th birthday!


DB had arranged for a picnic date night on the cliffs, watching the sunset
but as the bay area blesses us with awesome sweeping fog
we were unable to see the sun set at the cliffs, so we kept driving and landed
on the shores along crissy fields
to our left...beyond those clouds is the golden gate bridge

 to our right...the top of the city scape

it was a fantastic way to end the "workweek"
(i put in quotes, as i don't have the typical monday through friday; yet DB does....
and friday night represents so much more for him than myself; as i typically work 5 am on saturday mornings)

halfway through our picnic dinner of veggie hummus wraps, carrots, tabbouleh, wine in plastic cups...

last night,  cinco de mayo we hosted shannon for dinner; garlic stuffed artichokes, mango margaritas and fajita salads!

for our sunday afternoon together DB and I took off on another hike

we were a little ambitious, if we were truly honest with ourselves; we would have looked at each other before we left out apartment and concluded a nap in the park would have been equally as nice;
but we are go-getters, and onto the trail we went.

DB is the navigator, which is awesome

we met a little friend a long the path

i found some moss and shiny cob webs

and a wooden fence

after 2 hours, i was ready for a rest break...so we took off our shoes in a meadow and slept in the warm sun:)

sunday night continues to be "DB cooking in the kitchen"...which is absolutely wonderful.
tonight its walnut encrusted halibut with mexican rice and beans


tomorrow, it'll be monday....back to the grind!

the application is in the mail

the first of may, 2012
DB dropped off the application to take the exam to be licensed.
this process, up to this point, has taken a couple years of graduate school,
in addition to 33 months of clocking hours, and getting those hours signed off.
3300 of them.
here he is, the last night of working on, and putting together all the final pieces of his application.



its in the mail as of today!
and now we wait....approximately 6 months for approval...and then he starts the examination process.
 holymoly...i don't know how he has done it and continues to be so incredibly patient throughout this process.  he has been diligent, patient, and incredibly hard working to get to this point.
i am so incredibly proud of him!
