today marks my 1 year anniversary at my current store.
much of the time its a chill, easy going, smooth paced environment.
the other day, quite a different story.
and i am thankful its not this busy on a day to day basis!
this past year at my current store has both provided a wonderful change in my work/life balance and renewed my enjoyment and excitement for what i get to do everyday.
for those things, i am thankful.

wharf to wharf
on the 4th sunday of every july there is a very popular little 10k along the coast from santa cruz to capitola.....the wharf to wharf!
i've "run" this race once before, the summer before i got married, as apart of my bachlorette weekend! but the morning of the race we had some difficulty getting to the start line in tie, so we ended up taking a taxi to mile marker 3...so technically speaking, i haven't really run this race in its entirety; as today was the first time i saw the start line!
this year, i am proud to say, we did the whole thing! it was a blast and i look forward to doing it again!
and audrey has officially joined the running fun and i am so thankful to have another local running buddy!
and we are off!
the last few runs we've been on, sarah has had the unfortunate priveledge of having to hop skip and jump over fellow runners who seem to always trip and fall right in front of her (or throw up in front of her!)
this race was different, it was a smooth event with no falls, no grossness and sarah even smiles while she runs (which is so hard to do!!)
and we did it!
(sweaty, frizzy hair and all!)
we finished our race morning with a little coffee and some breakfast burritos!!
(which are by far one of my most favorite breakfast foods)!
next race, in less than 4 weeks!

life up-to-date
in the midst of this busy summer, coupled with our move, was our ingenious idea to re-do the kitchen cabinets...we thought it would be a quick little project; that has turned into a 4 week journey of sanding, priming, sanding, painting...and repeat... for every door and also for every cabinet in the kitchen!
....we have ventured out into the world where we have enjoyed dinner with friends, a date night of italian food and a comedy club, river rating with friends from church, and giants games.
and also trips to ikea.
i want to know who rides their bike to ikea?! everytime we go to ikea the seats fold down and the passenger seats slides into the dashboard, just to fit the boxes in our car.
(maybe they ride their bikes to ikea for free food, which they were giving out today...crazy all around)!
i have a new favorite color...and it might be pink!
new running shoes and new ear buds...oh my!
i took my sister some chocolate and a bottle of wine as she is deep in the bar prep phase of her law degree.
this is what her apartment looked like...
a little BC get together at an ethiopian joint oakland to talk about our book of the quarter; cutting for stone
the book was great, the food was delicious and i am really thankful for friends!
one night this week i made a deal with myself.
if i completed 35 minutes on the stair master (some times i call the stair killer),
i could get nubi for dinner.
and thats just what i did!

making memories
we attempt to get out of the daily grind and schedule date nights with each other, as often as possible.
does it always happen every week? no.
but do we try to make it a priority? yes.
and last week we had a fabulous date night in the beautiful city we live in
we went out to one of our beloved little italian restaurants in north beach, its small and quaint, maxes out at maybe 15 patrons...which makes it all the better!
our meal was amazing; and i know so, because the next day in the midst of painting the kitchen, dave said, "dinner was so good last night!"
from dinner we went to bar down the street for a beverage.
and a snapshot in the bathroom mirror:)
(reminded me of our trip to NY last summer) as i took a picture in almost every bathroom i went into!
after our beverages, we went to a comedy club.
i warned dave that i might not laugh; as last time i went to such an event i didn't think it was funny, and the comedian pointed me out of the crowd....and it wasn't very pretty.
but this evening, it was hilarious!
i laughed...and i laughed hard.
a few times, i could feel dave looking at me wondering, "who is this lady!?"
it was me, and we had a great time!
and of course, we couldn't enjoy an evening in the city without mitchells!
oh delish!

team orange
this past weekend the husband and i were apart of a beautiful outdoor wedding for our dear friend annie. she was my rooommate post college, and also friends with the husband during their high school years...we are blessed for sure with the friends in our life!
annie and her dad...with mom watching
one thing about being in the wedding, is that its challenging to document the day as bridesmaids aren't "allowed" to carry their camera instead of their bouquet... and i didn't want to be "that girl" so i let others take the photos...and got my camera back during the dinner reception!

chico, june 2011
we went to chico for fathers day, to celebrate fathers and birthdays.
it was just a few days prior to departing for florida, and i didn't have time to get pictures up of our quick trip.
we wanted to chill, to relax and of course get some frozen tea!
(oh i love the T bar, i took my grandma for her first tea experience, she loved it!)
here we are riding our bikes through upper park
(he can't be missed in that yellow jersey shirt i received in boise)
here we are riding through lower park
friday evening dave and i went to see brett dennen, which was a great show!
saturday evening, we all hosted a small family and friends dinner, with 11 adults 7 children
my parents have an amazing backyard which is perfect for outdoor entertaining and room for the littles to run around and do their thing, all the fathers were given chocolate cigars for their party favor (failed to photograph them though)
here is my mom taking care of her mom...simply precious!
this is my bearded brother, and my grandma exclaiming over one of the cute kids
here are morgan and finley...finley is now talking up a storm!
she said, "hello uncle dave" and "hi aunt kim"
she still has to be prompted and doesn't perform under pressure; but super cute!
this one...i love him. mr silas...he might be my favorite...(don't tell the others)
at the end of the night, when he was supposed to be getting into the car with all his siblings; he ran back around the house to the backyard just to wave and say goodbye to al the adults still chatting at the table!
adorable!

we celebrated our nations independence with friends, warm weather, amazing food and a wonderful cake with some fabulous friends!
so impressed with these two; in more ways that one...
but look at this cake they created, together; and then surprised us all!
so creative!!
it's hard to believe one week ago we were here
and a week before that we were here...
ahh summer has been good to us...and we still have so much more time to enjoy before this festive season is over!
