the best of Shelter Island, NY 2010

immediately following the 90th birthday party for Betty Barry we took off for the quiet, slow paced life of Shelter Island
(population 2000 off season, maybe 6000 during the summer)

either way, it was chill.
there was lots of family time, lots of lazy afternoons finished off by dinner on the water, dinner in an old family friends backyard, a walk through a really bug infested meadow, ice cream from the tuck shop, dinner at Bobs Fish Market, kayaking at shell beach, drinks at a local bar with the councilman of shelter island mr eddie brown (an old high school friend of mr and mrs barry)...all in all...good times on the island.
it was a bit humid, there was one thunder storm that poured buckets of water and then cleared right up within an hour...but it was still pretty warm.

dave dug his toes in the muck and found some clams (they were huge)

(this is how the boys rolled into a backyard dinner)
david loved the freshly caught, cleaned and then baked/stuffed clams

some of my favorites from to shell beach

our tour guide DB2(mr barry), took us on an around the island tour, and we ended up here

a pretty special moment
i have met the DB1, and throughout my time in shelter island i was able to hear a lot of stories about the original DB.
