dave and i hosted our families for dinner...
and it was amazingly good times
all of them are truly good sports....
look what i made them do:)
(aren't they all so cute?!)
we were able to celebrate the marriage of john and barbara.
someone started singing happy birthday,
thinking that we just keep celebrating dave's birthday...
but i quickly changed the song to something like...
yeah for wedding bells...!
these two are our new york favorites!!
i have a series of photos from this moment...dad was saying some crazy stuff, mom and i were trying to get him to stop and smile for a picture...and this is what you get
and this guy...he is a keeper. and he is mine.
love him.

death of my ipod
sad day yesterday.
my ipod seems to have taken its last breath.
i thought maybe when i cam home today it'd be alive and well...
but doesn't seem to be the case.
im not sure what happened, but i suppose i will try to take it to the apple store for a little check up visit.
im not feeling super optimistic about the outcome...but i hear they can work wonders.
dave bought me this ipod.
i remember he wrapped it in a newspaper with a starbucks ad on the outside, perfectly centered so the top of my gift had the side of a starbucks cup on top, with all the empty code boxes.
dave loaded up a picture from our first trip to NY as my background, and i hadn't changed it since....but now i can't even see the background.
:( sad times.

NWM 2011.
on our way to the start line at union square...6am...
kristy and i (and a few others from chico, along with 22,000 other women)
completed the nike womens half marathon today.
kristy's first.
she did GREAT!
ohmyword, she pushed me through those hills if she kept going i would keep going
(and the hills...ohmy....i thought that they'd never end!)
we didn't stop to walk unless we were trying to grab water at the water stations
here we are at the end...2 hrs 20 minutes later
the weather was warm and humid...and a little chilly at the end.
the skies were clear, which allowed or some great views.
(if i had an iphone i would have taken photos while running,
i really want one...but i don't have one yet....)
it was such a great day for a run in the city!
and we got a ton of stuff!
dave was a gem.
he took all us girls to as close to the start line at union square as possible, and then found us at the end, took a few pictures for us!
always looking forward to the next one.

fleet week 2011
this year for fleet week we had not one, but both of my parents in town!
last year, we hosted dad's adventure around the city, and made him walk all over...
mom was jealous, and felt a little left out...so she made sure she could make it this year!
in our true fashion, we took the train into the city, and hit the city for an all day exploration and fabulous day together
dave loosely plans an agenda, with places and routes...but the day is flexible, allowing for spontaneous streets and neighborhoods to be explored
check out who made it into the mirror
this year we were genius, and brought ear plugs for the air show!
more graffiti!
we had a great day!
and for the fourth time this month, i have somehow made my way into this restaurant, one i am really enjoying and loving sharing with my people.
dad was thrilled with the mussels
im ok mom didn't love the sangria...its just meant there was more for me!
they both loved the food (of course!)
we celebrated dave's birthday...again...i think we'll just keep celebrating his birthday all month!

a quick jaunt to the beach
when the parents are in town, we have to go to the beach.
they love it, we love it!
it was a bit chilly, overcast and wet with the fog; but we still had a great time!
(all photos taken with my dad's iphone instragram app...my new love)

the birthday continued
for the actual birth-day dinner...we took off for half moon bay to visit the highly recommended Gibraltar
this place wasn't just dinner...it was a dining experience.
amazing food, great decor, private little cabana-like booths with low-to-the-ground tables...we were encouraged to take off our shoes and sit on large comfy pillows.
we were in our booth, and the waiters had to kneel every time they brought us our next course!
this husband-chef, wife-managed restaurant is soon moving its location to hawaii in just 2 months.
we are so glad we made the time to get to this place!

a birthday celebration
we had a birthday around here last week.
and we celebrated with some fabulous people whom we are grateful to have in our lives!
dave wanted to have a bocce afternoon hang out with family and friends, and thats just what we did.
many thanks to my sister and her husband for preparing all the food and taking care of the details so dave and i could show up and have a great time.
(thank you thank you jill and sean!)
the little italian ladies weren't shy when sharing their bocce techniques and secrets
our officially measuring technique...foot by foot.
i am incredibly thankful dave has these guys in his life
even ruby plays bocce
we're friends...yet both a little competitive
sisters...so glad they made it
the italian ladies approve!
im sad its blurry, but i still love it
the 10-4 club
happy birthday to dave!
(next time...i need someone to take my camera, so dave and i get a photo together!)
